The CornBelters have announced the addition of new entertainment staff positions to their front office in prep for the 2018 Frontier League season.
Normal has added Connor Howard as the director of entertainment and Shari Williams as the team’s entertainment coordinator.
“We are putting everything we have into creating a world-class show here at The Corn Crib,” said CornBelters President and General Manager Steve Malliet. “We’ll be the first to admit that the last few seasons, our show has been stale. We can do better, and our fans deserve better, so we are going all in on this season and will be delivering a high-quality sports entertainment experience every game night.”
Connor joins the CornBelters for his first season as the director of entertainment. Before Normal, he worked with the NBA's Memphis Grizzlies. While earning his degree in Recreation and Sports Management from the University of Tennessee, Connor also served as a marketing intern where he primarily worked with Tennessee Baseball assisting with game day special events on "The Porch," but also spent time working with men's and women's basketball on-court promotions.
Beyond his collegiate experience, Connor also spent time as an intern for the Lowell Spinners in 2016, was the School Viceroy for the University of Tennessee's Barstool Sports media (2015-16) and contributed as a game day operations Intern for the Knoxville Ice Bears hockey club (2015-16).
Shari Williams has come on board as the team’s entertainment coordinator. She has been working in the entertainment industry since 1986 in all aspects of live production and has been a performer, stage manager, choreographer, writer, director, and creative lead. As a creative entertainment executive for multiple years, Shari has been producing and developing professional sports entertainment from field level to control room.
Before teaming up with Normal to create an all-new game experience at The Corn Crib, Shari worked with the Dayton Dragons professional baseball team in Dayton, Ohio as a part of Mandalay Baseball Properties. She served as the director of entertainment for the Dragons from 2001-2009 and was the vice president of entertainment from 2009-2012. She has also been a promotion and marketing director of iHeartMedia in Dayton (2012-2016) and worked in the professional dance industry as an instructor and choreographer.
“We’re excited to have two experienced, and very talented, individuals [Shari and Connor] join our staff,” said Malliet. “What we are doing this season is about as close as you can get to a rebrand of our team. From our game day entertainment experience to our ballpark value menu at concession stands and from lower ticket prices to our marketing. We believe fans are going to be stunned, amazed, and hooked on CornBelters baseball at The Corn Crib this spring and summer.”
